Name Board Rules and Colour Coding
1. A Color Coded Name Board system will be used each club night to arrange games and ensure equal opportunities for play for all members.
2. Each club member will have a name tag, which will be color coded as follows:
- GOLD New Member
- BLACK Beginner
- GREEN Intermediate
- BLUE Advanced Intermediate
- RED Advanced
3. All New Member’s entering the Club (or former Members who have missed more than one season) will be color coded GOLD. New members are encouraged to obtain a color as soon as possible and this is done by arranging a challenge match. Gold’s are asked to get assistance from the Board Captain when it’s their turn to pick.
4. Players may arrange their own Challenge Matches or ask a member of the Executive (preferably the Board Captain) to arrange it for them. Challenge Matches must be with the same gender.
5. The Challenge can be:
a) One game of singles to 15 points against any three different players within a one month period.
b) Three games of doubles, rotating partners each game. This is to be completed in one evening.
6. Any member can challenge one grade higher twice in any playing season. (This does not include a New Members’s challenge into their “first color”).
7. A Member of the Executive will have the title of Board Captain. The Board Captain will keep each Name Board up to date and will oversee Challenge Matches.
8. A current Executive Member must be present to supervise any Color Code Challenge.
9. Gold’s who have not obtained a color within a reasonable length of time will be put in as Black.
10. Member’s are requested not to turn down Challenges.
11. When picking a game on a regular club night, a member must select all of his choices from the top 10 names on the Board. When a name reaches the top of the Board, it is that members turn to pick.
12. Member’s of the Executive will attempt to oversee the Board each night.
13. Player’s Color Coded as Black may pick from anyone who is Black or Green. Greens may pick from Blacks, Greens and Blues. Blues and Reds may pick from anyone. Again all picks must be from the top ten names.
14. If a game has been chosen in accordance with our board rules and a player chooses not to participate, his name shall go to the bottom of the list.
